Kurds in Armenia

Yazidis are Armenia’s largest minority. Soviet Armenia was a centre of Kurdish culture: Kurdish radio, the newspaper Riya Teze (1930) and the first Kurmanji novel, by Ereb Şemo (Yerevan, 1935). The world’s largest Yazidi temple opened at Aknalich in 2019.

Subdivisions of Armenia

Each first-level subdivision has a local page. It gathers official services, learning, safety and civic life.

The list follows UN sources first: OCHA COD-AB, then UN SALB, then ISO 3166-2. It takes no position on any status or boundary.

03How statistics see the community

Kurds can be counted: the census records Yazidis and Kurds separately.

Counts of Kurds differ by what they measure: birthplace, citizenship, language or self-identification. Each figure names its measure, year and source, and none are summed.
