Kurds in Sweden
Kurdish political exiles have come since the 1970s. Stockholm became a centre of the Kurmanji publishing revival, with Mehmed Uzun, the Kurdish Library and Kurdish publishers. Mother-tongue teaching gave Kurdish its first state-funded schoolbooks. Kurdish questions arose in the 2022 to 2024 NATO accession talks.

03How statistics see the community
Sweden keeps no official statistics on language or ethnicity.
Counts of Kurds differ by what they measure: birthplace, citizenship, language or self-identification. Each figure names its measure, year and source, and none are summed.
