Kurds in Syria
Rojava, as Kurdish usage names the Kurdish areas of Syria, includes Jazira, Kobanî and Afrin. Kurds also live in Damascus (Rukn al-Din) and Aleppo (Sheikh Maqsoud). The 1962 census left many Kurds stateless; a January 2026 decree reportedly reversed this (to verify). The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the integration agreements of 2025 to 2026 are recent, and accounts of them differ.

03How statistics see the community
Syria publishes no data on ethnicity.
Counts of Kurds differ by what they measure: birthplace, citizenship, language or self-identification. Each figure names its measure, year and source, and none are summed.
